The Nebraska Ethanol Board spends a significant amount of time engaging in the legislative process, monitoring key ethanol issues and talking with Nebraska legislators to ensure the protection and growth of the industry. As a government agency, we do not lobby or endorse candidates. We support bills as an unbiased, technical advisee. We work with Renewable Fuels Nebraska, the trade association for Nebraska's ethanol industry, whose focus is to establish ethanol policy.

How Does Legislation Support Ethanol?
Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS): Many countries, including the United States, have implemented Renewable Fuel Standards that mandate a certain percentage of renewable fuels, such as ethanol, in the overall fuel supply.
Tax Incentives: Governments often provide tax incentives and credits to encourage the production and use of ethanol. These financial incentives help make ethanol more competitive with traditional fuels.
Infrastructure Support: Legislation can mandate or incentivize the development of infrastructure to support the distribution and availability of ethanol.
Environmental Regulations: Legislation focused on environmental protection may encourage the use of cleaner fuels like ethanol to align with efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. We are seeing this now as lawmakers establish guidance for Sustainable Aviation Fuel; Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage; and other innovations.
Trade Policies: Trade agreements and policies may influence the flow of ethanol between countries, affecting market dynamics and opportunities for ethanol producers.
Research and Development Funding: Governments may allocate funds for research and development to advanceme technologies, feedstock development, and overall efficiency, making ethanol more economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
